- WiPHoF Induction Ceremony & Celebration Bounty Tournament
Kristen Foxen and Jeanne David have been chosen as the 2024 inductees into the Women in Poker Hall of Fame (WiPHoF), with Starla Brodie set to make history as the first-ever recipient of the newly introduced Pioneer Award. The induction ceremony will take place next month, celebrating the achievements of these trailblazers.
Founded in 2008, the WiPHoF honors women who have made lasting contributions to the poker world. With this year’s induction, Foxen and David will become the Hall's 26th and 27th members.
The selection process, which began in September with public nominations, brought forward a strong list of contenders, narrowed down to eight finalists: Foxen, David, Liv Boeree, Jamie Kerstetter, Kara Scott, Rebecca McAdam Willetts, Annette Obrestad, and Jen Shahade. Voting was conducted by current WiPHoF members and selected poker media figures.
Player Induction: Kristen Foxen
Kristen Foxen needs no introduction. The five-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner has over $8.4 million in live tournament cashes.
She won the $1,000 Ladies Championship in 2013, the $1,500 NLHE Bounty in 2016, a $2,500 NLHE 6-handed online event in 2020, and an $888 NLHE Crazy 8's online bracelet in 2023.
In October, Foxen collected bracelet #5, winning Event #19: $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em 6-Max during WSOP Online for $56,703.

Foxen came agonizingly close to winning the 2024 WSOP Main Event, crashing out in 13th place for $600,000. That impressive prize has helped Foxen become one of only two women to feature in poker's top 200 money earners.
Before focusing her attention on live poker, Foxen achieved Supernova Elite status online at PokerStars in 2011, 2012, and 2013.
Industry Induction: Jeanne David

Until she retired in 2021, Jeanne David was the head of responsible gaming for PokerStars, and was active in legislative work around the United States and Europe, promoting the legalization of online poker. David's efforts helped bring online poker to Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Nevada. David has also spoken in front of parliament in the Netherlands and to the UK Gambling Commission addressing responsible gaming and the prevention of gambling addiction.
As a poker player, few people can match David's passion for mixed games and she has been dubbed as the 'Queen of Mixed Games'. Some 95% of David's $250,000 in live cashes stem from mixed game tournaments.
WiPHoF Induction Ceremony & Celebration Bounty Tournament
The 2024 WiPHoF Induction Ceremony and Luncheon are set for Wednesday, December 11, at 11 a.m. at the Plaza Hotel and Casino in downtown Las Vegas, sponsored by PokerStars. Jan Fisher will serve as the Master of Ceremonies, with a keynote address by Jennifer Tilly. Public tickets are available at wiphof.com, but seating is limited, so early purchase is encouraged.
Following the luncheon, the celebration continues with a $185 NLHE WiPHoF Celebration Bounty Tournament at 3 p.m. at the Resorts World Poker Room.
Open to all, the event includes $50 bounties on all players, plus a gift basket prize for knocking out a Hall member. The “Last Woman Standing” will also win a $1,100 entry to the WPT Ladies Championship.

- Players can obtain a tactical edge and raise their chances of winning by carefully weighing the possible outcomes of discarding & drawing cards. When it comes to winning at card games, strategy and tactics are crucial. While tactics are short-term choices made during individual turns depending on the situation, strategy refers to long-term planning & overall approach to gameplay, such as choosing to play aggressively or conservatively. A well-planned strategy can serve as a framework for choices made during the game, but adaptability is essential because situations change at every turn. Gamers must continuously evaluate both their own hands and the possible moves and strategies of their opponents. 25-04-11
- For example, in Gin Rummy, when one player leaves the game, players score points based on the unmatched cards that remain in their opponents' hands. In contrast, certain melds and combinations made during play earn points in games like Pinochle. Also, understanding how scoring is determined can help you make better strategic choices during the game. Players may decide to play more defensively if they know they run the risk of accruing negative points, or they may decide to play more aggressively if they know that certain actions result in higher points. This understanding not only improves player performance but also cultivates a greater understanding of the complexities of the game. 25-04-11
