What You Need to Do to Win

Here’s how it works.
There will be a total of six episodes – two of Life Outside Poker with Connor Richards and four of the PokerNewsPodcast with Chad Holloway, Kyna England, and Mike Holtz – each presenting a code word somewhere in the episode (don’t worry, it’ll be easily identifiable) between now and Oct. 14.
Listen to each episode, note the keyword, and at the end put them together to spell out a six-word phrase. Simply email the correct six-word phrase to [email protected] and you’ll be entered to win. A winner will be randomly selected after the giveaway ends at 11:59 p.m. PT. Terms and conditions apply, which can be viewed in full here.
The last keyword will be revealed in the Friday, Oct. 11 episode of the PokerNewsPodcast, meaning you’ll have that weekend to put together the phrase and send it in along with your name and location.
One of the episodes is already out, meaning the first code word is just waiting for you to find.

- Common Yono Rummy mistakes can affect even experienced players and impair their performance. Keeping valuable cards for an extended period of time in the hopes of creating a run or set is a common mistake. Aiming for strong combinations is important, but holding on to valuable cards too tightly can backfire if opponents manage to get out before you do. Consider instead if those expensive cards are actually strengthening your strategy or if they are just making your hand heavier. Ignoring the discards and picks of their opponents is another common error made by players. 25-04-08
- Also, since wild cards and jokers can be used to finish any meld, you may want to hold onto them to increase your hand's versatility. One of the most important aspects of Yono Rummy strategy is choosing whether to pick up or discard cards. The possible effects on your opponents as well as your own hand must be taken into account when discarding. 25-04-08
- It's best to be careful about what you discard because throwing away a card you think your opponent needs could give them an advantage. For instance, consider your options carefully before discarding a card from a particular suit if you have been witnessing an opponent gather cards in that suit. In contrast, whenever you take a card out of the discard pile, consider how it will fit into your current hand. It's probably a wise decision if it facilitates the formation of a bond or moves you closer to going out. It might be wiser to draw from the draw pile instead, though, if picking up a card doesn't substantially improve your hand or if it might help an opponent more than it does you. 25-04-08

- Three or four cards of the same rank but different suits make up a set, whereas three or more cards in the same suit make up a run. Comprehending these essential ideas is essential for any Yono Rummy player hoping to succeed. Each player is dealt a set number of cards at the start of the game, typically 13. A draw pile is formed by the remaining cards, and the discard pile is initiated by placing the top card face-up. In order to make melds and eventually go out by laying down all of their cards in combinations that are allowed, players alternately draw cards from the draw pile or the discard pile. In addition to knowing the rules, the game demands the ability to read opponents and predict their next moves. 25-04-08

- Because it combines psychology and strategy, Yono Rummy is a dynamic & captivating game. The foundation of Yono Rummy is the construction of melds & sets, and players must approach this task strategically. Making forming runs a priority over sets whenever feasible is one useful tip. Because they can include a greater variety of cards, runs are typically more adaptable, particularly when you have a mix of high & low cards in the same suit. To finish your run, for example, you can simply add an 8 or 4 if you have a 5, 6, and 7 of hearts. 25-04-08
