An ordinary 52-card deck is used to play the well-liked card game rummy. The goal is to form sets and runs of cards in this game, which usually involves two to six 213players. Sets comprise of three or four cards with the same rank, whereas runs are groups of three or more cards in the same suit that occur consecutively. Each player receives a hand of cards at the start of the game. Using the top card turned face-up to begin the discard pile, the remaining cards form a face-down draw pile.
