A trailblazing figure in the history of rock & roll music, Buddy Holly was born Charles Hardin Holley on September 7, 1936, in Lubbock, Texas. Taking inspiration from a variety of genres such as gospel, country, and rhythm and blues, he became ingame recordterested in music at an early age. Holly & his friends started a band, and they started playing at local Lubbock venues, which is how he came up with his unique sound and style. A talent scout from Decca Records found Holly and his band, The Crickets, which led to his big break in the music business. "That'll Be the Day," their debut single, became popular and made Holly a household name. He stood out from his peers thanks to his distinctive voice, catchy tunes, & inventive guitar style.
