He's worth nearly $200 billion, and he co-created the largest social media platform ever. But Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg isn't too wealthy to play some low-stakes poker, which he did recently in Las Vegas at Wynn.

PokerNewscaught up with a player in that game during last week's Celebrity Poker Tour (CPT) event, UFC fighter Mackenzie Dern, to get the scoop on the Facebook co-founder's poker chops from first-hand experience.

Dern, a Brazilian MMA fighter with a 15-5 record in the UFC, was part of a viral poker hand involving Zuckerberg that didn't go her way. She spoke about the hand and how the Vegas poker game with the billionaire came together.

"He's kind of risky to go against, but he definitely knows what he's doing."

A brief video surfaced on social media showing the tech billionaire taking down a large pot in a $2/$5 no-limit hold'em game inside a private room at Wynn. The video quality wasn't clear and showed at least $1,000 in the middle, or about $9.6 million less than Zuckerberg makes per hour, according to Benzinga's figures. Zuckerberg turned over two unclear small cards, and the UFC star showed a big ace.

Dern, who finished fourth out of 10 players in Friday's CPT event, briefly explained the viral hand, which took place on March 8 after the UFC 313: Pereira vs. Ankalaev fight at T-Mobile Arena. The group went out for a night of gambling and decided to give poker a try.

"He beat me with a straight, and I had like two pair, so he knows how to play for sure," Dern told PokerNews.

Dern lost a cooler against the third-richest person in the world. All she could do was shake Zuckerberg's hand as the lead subject of the 2010 blockbuster movie The Social Networkraked in what would be considered a monster pot at those stakes. But is he actually skilled at poker or was it beginner's luck?

"Yeah, for sure," Dern said when asked if Zuckerberg is a competent poker player. "He definitely knows and he takes risks."

Zuckerberg's unlimited bankroll gives him an edge at the poker table. Dern said she has to be concerned with Zuckerberg's ability to take risks without fearing the loss of money.

"He's kind of risky to go against, but he definitely knows what he's doing," she said.

Zuckerberg is an avid MMA fan who often attends UFC events. That is how the two poker foes met and became friends, Dern said.

"I've been doing MMA since 2017, and (Zuckerberg) actually rented out one of my events that I was the main event to watch with him and his wife, Priscilla. They're a really, really cool couple. They support the UFC and MMA. So, she really enjoys watching me fight, so I'm really, really happy about that. I'm glad they like my fighting style," Dern explained.

“He rented out the whole event here (in Las Vegas), and basically it was like gladiators fighting. And I’m glad he was entertained.”

We'll likely see Dern competing again at the poker table in a future CPT event. Perhaps, she'll bring her pal Zuckerberg along sometime and get some revenge.
